Apple has posted Battery Update 1.2, which updates battery firmware and improves battery functionality according to Apple.

The update affects most Intel-based notebooks, including:
* MacBook
* MacBook (Late 2006)
* MacBook Pro (15-inch)
* MacBook Pro (15-inch Glossy)
* MacBook Pro (15-inch Core 2 Duo)
* MacBook Pro (17-inch)
* MacBook Pro (17-inch Core 2 Duo)

Apple today announced that its entire MacBook Pro line of notebooks now includes the new Intel Core 2 Duo processor and delivers performance that is up to 39 percent faster than the previous generation.

Apple today replaced its Power Mac line of pro desktop systems with the Mac Pro that boasts an all dual core Intel Woodcrest 64-bit CPU running at up to 3GHz with 4MB of L2 cache, as well as a 128-bit vector engine. The new Mac Pro is 1.6 to 2.1 times faster than the Power Mac G5 Quad, according to Apple, with an average real-world speed increase of 200 percent for everyday apps.

Logitech Premium USB Headset 350

I spent some of my birthday money on this pricey USB headset from logitech. It replaced an older logitech headset that was on its last leg. Overall this headphones are great, the sound is much richer and the bass and midranges are a lot clearer and pack more punch. The only gripe i have is the headband is thin, hard plastic and dosen’t make for comfortable long gaming sessions. Otherwise I highly recommend the Logitech Premium USB Headset 350.

Rhode Island Set To Become First Wireless State

The smallest state in the Union is itching to go unwired in a big way. “The network will be built on a WiMAX transport core with WiFi technology at the consumer interface edge.” The first antenna goes up this week. Quite an impressive achievement, in spite of the fact that it probably won’t be free.

Apple Announces Official Support for Installing Windows XP

Boot Camp lets you install Windows XP without moving your Mac data, though you will need to bring your own copy to the table, as Apple Computer does not sell or support Microsoft Windows. Boot Camp will burn a CD of all the required drivers for Windows so you don’t have to scrounge around the Internet looking for them.

Retailer fans Bluetooth iPod rumors

“Rumours of a iPod with the wireless tech built-in reached fever pitch in February 2005, but it looks like the jukebox is finally ready to appear in the Apple store, along with a deluge of accessories” the report says. It does not identify the retailer which made the comments, but it is true that Apple sometimes offers privileged information to some of its largest resellers ahead of major product launches.”

Apple Updates 30″ Cinema Display

“Competition is always healthy, especailly in our industry. Several weeks ago, we reported on Dell’s 3007WFP – a mammoth 30″ LCD supporting a native resolution fo 2560×1600. Of course, Dell wasn’t the first to release such a screen, as Apple had announced its 30″ Cinema Display just close to a year prior to the 3007WFP. However, Dell’s new screen was supporting much better specifications:

178 degree viewing angle on the Dell vs. 170 on the Apple
700:1 contrast ratio on the Dell vs. 400:1 on the Apple
400 cd/m2 light output on the Dell vs. 270 cd/m^2 on the Apple
14ms pixel response time on the Dell vs. 16ms on the Apple

Several readers have emailed us claiming that Apple has updated its 30″ Cinema Display to reflect the new panel used in the display. Apparently, Apple’s panel change on the 30″ ACD now matches the specifications of the Dell 3007WFP. However, the Cinema Display lacks the 8-in-2 media card reader slots that come with the Dell and is not as flexible in terms of viewing adjustments (the 3007WFP can be height adjusted and swivled).”
